What is integrity?
In today’s “me first” world, sometimes it is hard to maintain a positive attitude. Today I read a good quote to think about. Heraclitus said in 6 B.C. “The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you do is who you become.” He had it right even that long ago. I think treating people how you would like to be treated is important. I also think that tiny decisions can bring about huge consequences- good or bad.
I have a sign above my desk that reminds me about the same subject. It says, “How you react to a situation defines who you are.” If only I could remember that at those crucial times!! I am very much a short fuse kind of person. I will be extremely angry, sad, etc. for about 5 minutes, then I am over it and on to the next thing. If only I could tame those emotions so that even the first 5 would be under control!
Anyone with any suggestions, please let me know…

It took me a couple of years to control my spontaneous emotional tendencies. There’s nothing wrong with spontaneous good emotions, but the bad ones coming out at the wrong times (like when you’re with a patient) — not good.
I had to make very conscious efforts to almost watch myself from outside of myself and then try to improve from one situation to the next…I’m still not perfect, but I do stay more level headed in times of crisis.
